How do I figure out the square feet of a single.wood plank?
If you want just the square feet of surface area multiply the length in feet times the width in feet.
EXAMPLE: If a board is 9″ wide(.75′) and 8′ long .75′ x 8′ = 6 sq. ft.
If you are looking for board feet, which is how lumber is sold, then a board foot is a board one foot square by one inch thick.
EXAMPLE: If the board in the example above is 1″ thick then you would have 6 bd. ft. or if it was 2″ thick it would contain 12 bd. ft. Good luck!
