Can you convert a regular JD450 dozer to a wide track dozer?
I’m looking at buying a JD450 dozer, but I really want one with 24″ tracks for the swamps we have. The dozer currently has 16″ tracks. I was wondering if you can get a “kit” to turn it into a LGP dozer. It’s an older dozer, I want to say like a 450C. Thanks!
Most anything can be done with enough money, and
ingenuity. However, this is something that I would
just put to the manufacturer. I know that Caterpillar
is able to provide parts to do this on their older
tractors, so I suspect that John Deere can as well.
I haven’t seen any such ‘kit’ listed anywhere, but I
do know that such as change is possible. The real
issue is just how much would need to be changed,
and would the cost be worth doing. Sometimes
just changing the pads can have the same effect
as changing the whole track system.
